We are committed to Make Encinitas Streets Safer!
Obtain a State of Emergency (SOE) from the City Council after Emery and 3 other pedestrian/cyclist deaths this year and obtain the city’s commitment to make safety improvements beginning at Encinitas Boulevard between El Camino Real and Village Park Way where there have been TWO fatalities this year.
Persuade the City Council to accept the HSIP grant Encinitas was awarded for safety improvements between Quail Gardens Drive and Via Cantebria (more information on the HSIP grant here).
Utilize the SOE to implement these immediate changes to intersection and surrounding roadways where Emery was killed:
Support the Chalekians in their bid to change Village Square Drive to Emery’s Crossing to honor Emery’s life and legacy.
Partner with the City to use the slogan, “Slow Down. Stop on Red. In her M-Emery” to bring awareness to smart, comprehensive, step-by-step changes to make our streets safer.
Use the Comprehensive Safety Action Plan as a guideline along with other smart, proven safety measures.
Help us make this happen:
Attend the City Council meeting on August 20, 6pm or August 20, 6pm in solidarity with the Chalekians request to make streets safer for our children and all community members. more info here
